Ten people at Invictus. Then 700.
How it started
Tristan Jung and Brady Potter started Toronto TFT in August 2023 as a home for the city’s Teamfight Tactics players. The first event was a ten-person hangout at Invictus Game Station.
It became the first city-based TFT community, and the biggest. We grew to 700+ members, with a volunteer staff running watch parties for every set, socials, online tournaments, a teaching series and Toronto’s first TFT LANs.
The wider scene noticed. Pro players wanted in, and Riot Games backed us with prizing, from Little Legend codes to merch. We were one of the key partners handing out Riot’s Set 12 tarot cards, gave away over $2,000 in prizes, and in January 2025 ran the Team Throwdown, part of Riot’s second North American subregional.
Now we’re picking it back up for Set 19, and the community decides what that looks like.
What we run
- Watch parties
- Every Riot broadcast worth yelling at, on a big screen.
- LANs
- Toronto’s first TFT LANs, with live production, casters and regional pros as captains.
- Online cups
- Free-entry tournaments in the Discord, from a PBE cup to a Riot subregional.
- Learning
- Patient Study: free lessons on fundamentals from our top-rated players.
- Socials
- Korean barbecue, karaoke, a potluck on Toronto Island. TFT optional.
The staff who ran it
All volunteers. Every one of these people gave up weekends so other people could play TFT in a room together.

Thanks for the GGs
Former staff who helped build Toronto TFT. They’ve left the lobby, but this place has their fingerprints all over it.

One year, filmed and drawn
For our first anniversary in August 2024 we made a film about the people who built this, and commissioned three Toronto artists to draw the community.
